Flow

When I teach mindfulness, I often notice a state of flow between me and my students. It’s as if wisdom moves through us, not in a one-way transmission from teacher to student, but as a shared discovery of something that was always there—waiting to be seen. The flow state isn’t about accumulating knowledge and passing it on. Instead, it feels like unveiling a truth already woven into our lives, revealing itself in the right moment.

This experience connects deeply with the idea of wholeness, something we discussed in class the other day. In our daily lives, we rarely recognize wholeness. The modern world celebrates individuality, urging each person to craft a unique identity, to stand out, to showcase their best self. As a creative force, individuality is a powerful skill to cultivate. But creativity isn’t just about isolated sparks—it’s about bringing them together into a glowing constellation, a brilliance that can only emerge when the light is shared.

If we focus only on celebrating individuality while encouraging separation, we risk creating a world of greater loneliness and suffering. Wholeness is not about losing ourselves but about belonging—realizing that we are all connected, like threads woven into a larger fabric, each one adding strength and beauty to the whole.
